Press Release: Community Mosaic Unveiled at Toronto Pearson Airport

VIBE Arts is pleased to share the Sunflower Mosaic Project, a collaborative artwork now installed at Toronto Pearson, in partnership with Toronto Pearson and Autism Ontario.

Youth and seniors from community partners Autism Ontario, Frank Oke Secondary School, George Syme Community School, Mural Routes, Rivercrest Junior Public School and YouthLink took part in mosaic-making programs where colourful sunflower mosaics bloomed and came together to create two large scale mosaics.

Sunflower Mosaic Project was led by VIBE Artist Cristina Delago and supported by VIBE Artists Kseniya Tsoy, Serene Chan, Frannie Potts and Tara Dorey and VIBE Artist assistants Michelle Ruiz, Maneesa Veeravel, Natalie “Rare” Chattargoon and Jadyn Hardie-Bardy.

This project aims to bring more awareness to the Sunflower Lanyard Program at Toronto Pearson, which provides lanyards to passengers with invisible disabilities to help self-identify that they may need extra help or time when travelling.

The mosaics, alongside work from other community partners, are now up in Toronto Pearson Terminal 1, Domestic Departures Gate D26.

This project is made possible by the Greater Toronto Airports Authority.
