Arts Assistant - Bendale Acres Intergenerational Community Mural Project: 1 position available
Location: Bendale Acres Long Term Care, 2920 Lawrence Ave East, Scarborough / VIBE Arts, 401 Richmond St West, Suite 230, Toronto
Day/Time: Monday-Friday 9:30 am – 4:30 pm (occasional evenings may be required)
Dates: July 4 – August 12, 2016
Rate of Pay: $13 / hour

Job Description
Under supervision of VIBE Staff and the Lead Artist, the Arts Assistant will perform entry-level work in the painting, finishing, and site maintenance of the Bendale acres intergenerational mural project. The Arts Assistant will work alongside lead muralists to support the painting and installation of this large-scale piece. In the spirit of collaboration, skill development, and knowledge exchange, the Arts Assistant will have the opportunity to advance their skills under the direction of experienced artists, and contribute to the creation of a public art piece.
Job Tasks
- Participate in the mural’s design review process, offering assistance and advice on materials, designs, and colour. Manage art materials, tools including the carrying of materials. Requirements for Position
Applicants must be registered students returning to school in the fall. Knowledge of different art forms. Interest in learning about the arts, mural design, and mural creation and/or interest in community development. Experience in arts programming is an asset.
Training Provided by VIBE Arts
The Arts Assistant will be mentored and supervised by Lead Artists and VIBE Staff. They will learn the process of creating a large-scale, public art mural with community collaboration and input. Health and Safety training, as it relates to large-scale art projects, will be provided.
