On the first VIBE Spotlight of 2021, we’re shining a light on Dominic Justina, a visual artist on VIBE’s emerging artist roster. Dominic was recently featured in VIBE Arts’ takeover of the Safe in Public Space initiative presented by The Bentway. She was also featured in our annual impact report which you can view here.
VIBE: Is there anything you are currently working on that you would like to share?
Dominic: Yes, my new website! dominicjustina.com now captures my recent creative works. I would love for people to check it out.
VIBE: What has been one of your greatest accomplishments to date?
Dominic: Creating seven new pieces for the NExT Exhibition and finally selling my first piece this year.
VIBE: What has been one of your favourite moments while being on the VIBE roster?
Dominic: When I had the opportunity to be part of the NExT program! This was a transformative experience for me that helped me build my confidence as an emerging artist. The mentorship, development sessions and support was invaluable, but this also marked my first time at an exhibition as a featured artist in Toronto.
VIBE: What are some of your future goals?
Dominic: To find my creative signature by creating more pieces and building out a more robust online art store. I also want to learn more skills in digital design and media and venture into multimedia.
VIBE: What is one of the greatest lessons you have learned thus far?
Dominic: That there is always time to create, despite the hustle of a 9-5. You make time for what’s important.
VIBE: What changes would you like to see in Toronto’s Art community?
Dominic: More visibility and as a result, increased collaboration.
