Length of Volunteer Opportunity: (Date pending). This year’s VIBE Arts Fest will be at (Venue Pending)

Time Commitment:

  • Varies depending on role
  • Mandatory meetings and work time: 25 to 35 hours/month with flexibility
  • Mandatory meeting hours will increase to 20-30 hrs a week 2-4 weeks prior to festival

VIBE Arts Fest 2018 ( Volunteer Opportunity with honorarium)

VIBE Arts works collaboratively with children and youth in under-resourced communities to innovate, build skills and resiliency, and lead social change through arts education programming. VIBE Arts builds sustainable localized partnerships and leverages the artistic agency of young people. 

Vibe Arts Fest (VAF) is an extension of the work we do as it is a youth-led arts festival that showcases the work done by children and youth who participate in VIBE Arts programs.

2018 is an important year as it celebrates the festival’s 10th anniversary. That’s why we need you and your creative talents to be a part of the planning of this vibrant and dynamic showcase of arts education programs from across the city.

Requirements:

  • Emerging Artist/Students
  • 29 years and under
  • Lived or work experience in event planning, community arts, community service, and/or the education fields
  • Experience in event planning and maintaining positive and productive relationships with multiple stakeholders is an asset

Festival Director

The Festival Director plans oversee, programs, and manages all aspects of the annual VIBE Arts Festival (VAF). The Festival Director is responsible for the artistic quality of VAF, ensuring that the festival and related events are well attended; and manages the overall operations and success of the festival. The Director must have an understanding and passion for VIBE ensuring the programming remains an appropriate interpretation of the VIBE Arts Festival mandate and commitment. In this role, the Festival Director will coordinate and oversee the rest of the committee by supporting its members, delegating tasks, implementing  SMART goals and be responsible for the maintenance of all communication pertaining to VAF. As a liaison to the VIBE Arts team, this candidate will have the critical role of cultivating partnerships with external organizations leading to the overall success of the VIBE Arts Festival. Other role responsibilities include:

Responsibilities: 

  • Oversee the organization of VAF and provide leadership for committee members and volunteers
  • Establish and uphold a safe, open and healthy work environment
  • Curate a timeline and work plan for the management of the festival and ensure that festival operates smoothly and all VAF deadlines are met.
  • Oversee all festival programming both curatorial and administrative
  • Build and maintain professional relationships with artists and community stakeholders.
  • Work closely with Outreach coordinator and board in executing a fundraising effort that includes sponsorships, memberships, individual and business donations
  • Research, outreach to, and negotiate with sponsors; see to the fulfilment of sponsor agreements.
  • Responsible for the leading of monthly meetings, ensuring all committee members are up to date with the direction of VAF
  • Works alongside with VAF committee members in consultation with VIBE Arts staff
Performance Coordinator

 The Performance Coordinator will be responsible for the management of all performances scheduled for the Vibes Arts Festival. The candidate will be instrumental in ensuring all festival attendees leave having had a positive experience. They will do this by overseeing the bookings of VAF performers, creating a smooth and systematic performance schedule, and serving as a liaison between VIBE Artists, our community/school partners, and the families and youth that the festival serves. Other role responsibilities may include:

Performance Coordinator Honorarium: $500

  • Strong passion and knowledge of community based-art programs

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate all production and organization of VAF 2018 performers
  • Attend monthly meetings and keep up to date on all committee communications and duties
  • Works alongside with VAF committee members in consultation with VIBE Arts staff
  • Organize and attend VIBE program visits with support from Outreach Coordinator
  • Ensure performers including headliners are booked in a timely manner prior to VAF 2018
  • Organize dress rehearsal and performance showcase logistics including the booking of any suppliers, performers, etc.)
  • Coordinate all event accommodations for participants (including food, transportation)
  • Create efficient communication plan for all VAF performers
Gallery Coordinator

The Gallery Coordinator will be responsible for the execution and management of the gallery exhibition portion of the VIBE Arts Festival. This will require the candidate to curate a Gallery, Call out, oversee the bookings of exhibiting VIBE visual arts programs and plan and lead all gallery installation and takedown for the event ( including the transportation to and from festival sites). Other role responsibilities may include:

Gallery Coordinator Honorarium: $500

Skills:

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Basic knowledge of photography and lighting
  • Knowledge of aspects involved in developing and organizing an Art Exhibition
  • Exceptional creativity and innovation
  • Knowledge and understanding of Gallery exhibition

Responsibilities:

  • Acts as Primary liaison with VAF Venue in regards to Gallery exhibition showcase
  • Ensure all Gallery exhibition equipment is prepared prior to VAF
  • Attend monthly meetings and keep up to date on all committee communications and duties
  • Work alongside VAF committee members and consultation with VIBE staff
  • Addressing submission, criteria, and exhibition conditions to VAF Gallery artists
  • Organize and attend VIBE program visits with support from Youth-led and Outreach Coordinator
  • Ensure Gallery attendees leave with a positive experience
  • Ensure efficient communication plan is made by Gallery volunteers
Marketing Coordinator

The Marketing Coordinator will be responsible for the preparation and implementation of the marketing strategy for VAF 2018. Ensuring the strategies used exemplify the vision and mandate of VIBE Arts, this candidate will design, order and oversee the distribution of all marketing materials and campaigns. With the support of VIBE Art’s Marketing Manager, this individual will ensure the hire of a media team, update all VAF social media accounts and coordinate the live documentation of the event. Other role responsibilities may include:

Marketing Coordinator Honorarium: $500

Skills:

  • Strong, verbal, written and communication skills
  • Working knowledge and understanding of current social Media platforms ; (Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter)
  • Ability to work collaboratively while under pressure, maintaining, a sense of humour, integrity and professionalism
  • Creative and innovative capabilities of marketing strategies
  • Ability to pay attention to detail
  • Team player

Responsibilities:

  • Curate and manage the festival marketing strategy plan
  • Understanding of current marketing techniques and platforms
  • Recruit volunteers solely for the execution of VAF Marketing
  • Work closely with the Graphic designer creating a writing copy, coordinating advertising, and designs for marketing content
  • Attend monthly meetings and keep up to date on all committee communications and duties
  • Plan and ensure marketing strategies for VAF are advertised in schools and a wide range of communities.
  • Create efficient marketing plan for hired marketing team to execute
  • Works alongside with VAF committee members in consultation with VIBE Arts staff
Graphic Designer

The Graphic Designer will be responsible for creating an innovative design strategy for VAF 2018. The candidate will design and curate any necessary graphics and designs while interpreting FAV’s theme on all marketing materials. They will work in tandem with the Marketing Manager to implement a coherent, powerful and creative marketing plan that is designed to showcase VAF and uphold the VIBE Art’s mandate. Other role responsibilities may include:

Graphic Designer Honorarium: $500

Skills:

  • Multimedia design experience
  • Creative and innovative capabilities
  • Ability to effectively communicate design concepts
  • Experience with photography, illustrations, graphics and other creative work
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator
  • Ability to work collaboratively while under pressure, maintaining, a sense of humour, integrity and professionalism

Responsibilities: 

  • Responsible for all graphic curation for FAV 2018
  • Create and manage production of the festival program, posters, online marketing design for VAF
  • Attend monthly meetings and keep up to date on all committee communications and duties
  • Submit design drafts to VAF Committee and the VIBE Marketing Coordinator
  • Work alongside with VAF committee members in consultation with VIBE staff
  • Works closely with Marketing Director creating all graphics used for all marketing content
  • Ensures all VAF advertisements represent the VAF 10 year anniversary theme
Volunteer Coordinator

The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for the management of the VAF volunteer team, including the planning and overseeing of volunteer recruitment and engagement strategy, organizing the volunteer orientation, the coordination of tasks for all VAF volunteers both leading up to and during the day of the festivals. The Volunteer Coordinator ensures all VAF needs are met, and the volunteer appreciation planning. Other role responsibilities will include:

Responsibilities:

  • Recruit and supervise all VAF Volunteers
  • Delegate appropriate tasks to FAV Volunteers
  • Attend monthly meetings and keep up to date on all committee communications and duties
  • Create a communication plan that ensures all VAF volunteers thoughts and concerns are being heard
  • Curate a Volunteer feedback and evaluation form for VAF volunteers
  • Address and troubleshoot any issues that arise with volunteers during the process and at the event
